Marius Ghincea is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the European Politics Research Group at ETH Zurich, working within the ERC-funded project "Rebordering Europe: Boundary Formation in European Integration" (EUROBORD). His research focuses on the geopolitics of European integration and the effects of great power competition on the EU's external and internal re-bordering processes. Additionally, Marius investigates the domestic politics of foreign and security policy, with a particular emphasis on European case studies.
He is also a Visiting Fellow at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence and co-leads the Quartet Institute, a think tank based in Bucharest.
Marius earned his Ph.D. from the European University Institute in March 2024, focusing on the domestic politics of foreign and security policy, particularly how cross-party consensus is formed in advanced democracies. His academic background includes studies at Central European University, the University of Bucharest, and coursework as a Fulbright Scholar at the Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration, where he focused on public policy and program evaluation. His teaching portfolio includes undergraduate and graduate courses in international relations, foreign and security policy, comparative politics, and methods workshops on qualitative and mixed-methods approaches. During his doctoral studies, he was a Visiting Fellow at the Hertie School, the SCRIPTS Cluster of Excellence at the Freie Universität Berlin, a re:constitution fellow at the Central European University, and an EUI Dahrendorf Fellow at St. Anthony's College, Oxford.
