Dr. Sven Hegewald

Sven Hegewald is a Postdoctoral Researcher in European Politics at the Center for Comparative and International Studies (CIS), ETH Zurich. In his research, Sven draws on insights from social psychology, geography, and political science, to study territorial divisions in political behaviour. Specifically, he investigates how place-based identities shape political conflict along the urban-rural divide in Europe. His work has been published in the European Journal of Political Research, the European Political Science Review, European Union Politics, the Journal of Elections, Public Opinion and Parties, and the Journal of European Public Policy.
