Prof. Dr.  Christian Freudlsperger

Christian Freudlsperger is a postdoctoral researcher in the European Politics Research Group, as part of the ERC-funded project “Bordering Europe: Boundary Formation in European Integration” (EUROBORD). He is also an affiliate research fellow at the Jacques Delors Centre of the Hertie School in Berlin. Christian holds degrees from the Berlin Graduate School for Transnational Studies, Sciences Po Paris and Ludwig Maximilians University Munich. He was a visiting researcher at the European University Institute in Florence and the University of Ottawa.

Christian’s research interests lie at the intersection of European integration, comparative federalism, and political development. He is particularly interested in patterns of polity formation, core state power integration in the EU, the governance of territorial diversity in multi-level systems, EU trade policy and German EU policy. Among others, his research has appeared in Comparative Political Studies, the Journal of European Public Policy, West European Politics, the Journal of Common Market Studies, the Journal of European Integration, Regional and Federal Studies, and Political Studies. His monograph “Trade Policy in Multilevel Government: Organizing Openness” was published with Oxford University Press.
