Christian Freudlsperger is Assistant Professor of Multilevel Politics and a member of the Center for Comparative and International Studies at ETH Zurich. He leads the Research Group on Multilevel Politics (MLP) and maintains an affiliation to the Research Group on European Politics (EUP) led by Frank Schimmelfennig. He is also an affiliate research fellow at the Jacques Delors Centre of the Hertie School in Berlin.

Prof. Freudlsperger holds degrees from the Hertie School, Sciences Po Paris, and Ludwig Maximilians University. He was a visiting researcher at the European University Institute in Florence and at the University of Ottawa. Previously, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Hertie School and ETH.

Christian Freudlsperger is the principal investigator of the SNSF Starting Grant project "Public Reinsurance in Multilevel Polities (EUROPE RE)".

Prof. Freudlsperger’s research interests lie at the intersection of European integration, comparative federalism, and political development. Among others, his research has appeared in Comparative Political Studies, the Journal of European Public Policy, West European Politics, the Journal of Common Market Studies, the Journal of European Integration, Regional and Federal Studies, and Political Studies. His monograph “Trade Policy in Multilevel Government: Organizing Openness” (2020) was published with Oxford University Press.
